The Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) was informed via self-reporting that:

  • two (2) staff members at the Criminal Justice Center in Montgomery, Alabama; and
  • one (1) staff members at Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama, have tested positive for COVID-19.

These three (3) individuals promptly self-quarantined under the direction of their healthcare providers.

The ADOC’s Office of Health Services (OHS) has initiated investigations to determine which, if any, ADOC inmates or employees may have had direct, prolonged exposure to these staff members. Upon completing the appropriate due diligence, OHS will advise any staff with direct exposure to contact their healthcare provider and self-quarantine as advised.

Seventy-six (76) COVID-19 cases among ADOC staff and contracted staff remain active. One hundred nine (109) staff members who previously self-reported a positive test have been cleared by medical providers to return to work.

The ADOC has confirmed that one (1) inmate at Fountain Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama, has tested positive for COVID-19. All existing quarantine protocols or newly implemented practices, as recommended by the ADOC’s contracted State Medical Director, are being maintained at each facility where positive inmates currently are housed.

Ninety-eight (98) total cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed among our inmate population, sixty (60) of which remain active.
