For the July 14 Primary Runoff Election, today is the last day to apply for an absentee ballot.

Following the postponement of the March 31 Runoff Election to July 14 due to COVID-19 outbreak, Secretary of State John H. Merrill increased the amount of time for Alabamians to apply for an absentee ballot to more than 110 days. He has additionally extended the opportunity for anyone concerned about COVID-19 to apply for and cast an absentee ballot through selecting the box on the application which reads as follows:

“I have a physical illness or infirmity which prevents my attendance at the polls. [ID REQUIRED]”

“In collaboration with Governor Kay Ivey, Attorney General Steve Marshall, and local election officials across the state, we have made it easier and safer for Alabamians to vote during the COVID-19 pandemic. I encourage anyone who is concerned about going to the polls on Election Day to make application for an absentee ballot today!” stated Secretary Merrill.

Absentee ballot applications can be downloaded online or requested by visiting or calling the local Absentee Election Manager’s office in the Escambia County Courthouse.

The deadline to return an absentee ballot to the Absentee Election Manager is the close of business Monday, July 13, and the last day to postmark an absentee ballot is Monday, July 13.

Voters who are eligible to vote pursuant to the Uniformed and Overseas Absentee Voting Act will have until Tuesday, July 14 to postmark an absentee ballot.
