Substitutes in many areas of school services are in big demand, and with the current health crises across the nation, the list of available personnel is limited.

Cheryl Jones, with the Escambia County Board of Education, said a virtual session to earn credentials, as a substitute will be held Sept. 4.

“The virtual meeting will be held Sept. 4 beginning at 9 a.m.,” Jones said. “We will be hosting a free substitute personnel virtual training session for those interesting in becoming a substitute in our schools.”

Jones said those who plan to substitute for the 2020-2021 school year, must login to the training before being allowed to sub for the year. No one will be allowed to sub before attending this mandatory session. The session will last approximately two hours and complete details will be given.

“We do have a list of qualified substitutes, but some are reluctant to go into the schools right now,” Jones said. “We want to make sure that our substitutes know the risks and are available when they are needed. That’s why we are reaching out to the community to grow our list of qualified, informed substitutes.”

Jones said those who are interested in the class, may access the session on the internet at: https://zoom.us/j/94889039253?pwd=VlpOV1VCVnovYjZnV0hLbDZLNmNhUT09 using the Meeting ID: 948 8903 9253 and Passcode: FM9nkW.
