A free drive-through testing site is planned for COVID-19 testing, according to the Alabama Statewide AHEC program coordinator Dixie Wiggins.

Wiggins said the site will  in the parking lot behind Farmer’s Furniture  from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.

“This will be a time for anyone to get tested without having to pay,” Wiggins said. “We will test those who are curious, those who need to be re-tested or for those who believe they may have been exposed.”

Wiggins said the tests will be flown in from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. After tests are administered, the tests will be returned to UAB with results given in 48 hours.

“If there is a positive result, we will provide information on how and where to seek care and treatment,” Wiggins said.

Those seeking testing will only need to provide their name, address, phone number and date of birth. No other information will be required.

“We will not need any insurance or other personal information since this is a no-cost test,” Wiggins said.

The testing is being done in partnership with the City of Brewton, Brewton Fire Department, and UAB.
