Brewton City Councilman, Lawrence Weaver was bid a fond farewell Monday by the members of the Brewton City Council.

Brewton Mayor Yank Lovelace thanks Weaver for his service, not only to the council, but to the citizens of Brewton.

“I want to personally thank District 2 Councilor Lawrence Weaver,” Lovelace said. “I know he will enjoy his time in full retirement, but we will miss him on this Council. He has been the most rare of public servants: one who has served his city in the fire department for decades, and then took on the role of council member to continue service. He is thoughtful, delibertive, dependable and humble and delivered selfless service with no agenda but to help his constituents and his city. I have the utmost respect for Lawrence and wish him nothing but good fishing and hunting in the days to come. Thank you Lawrence, you have served well.”

Weaver said he “has plenty to do” as he enters retirement from city service.

David Jennings will take over the position in November.
