Crash results in fatality

The Brewton Police Department is continuing an investigation into a Monday afternoon crash on South Boulevard/Hwy. 31 South near Colonial Manor Motel.
Officers with the Brewton Police Department responded to a two-vehicle accident on US-31, mile marker 68.6 near the Colonial Manor. The accident involved a four door sedan and an 18-wheel tractor trailer.
According to multiple witnesses, the sedan was struck from behind as it attempted to make a turn into the parking lot of Colonial Manor. As a result of the accident, the occupants of the sedan sustained multiple injuries including a single fatality, while the driver of the 18 wheeler was not injured.
At this time, an investigation into the cause of the accident is still being conducted by the Brewton Police Department with assistance of the Alabama State Troopers.
