At a time when gathering as a large group is being discouraged, the youth at First United Methodist Church will have an opportunity to gather a different way this year.

Ashley Byrd, director of children’s ministries at Brewton FUMC, provided information on a different way to celebrate Christmas for her students.

“This year we are hosting ‘Dough Holy Night’ – a fun, family experience with the true meaning of Christmas baked in,” Byrd said in a release. “Together parents and kids will bake a batch of Christmas cookies in their own home and, along the way, hear the story of the very first Christmas.”

Byrd said parents won’t need to prepare for the event which will consist of a video that will offer step-by-step instructions through the entire experience.

Brewton FUMC will provide supplies and ingredients to make the “at home” event to make this time of year very special for families in the community.

Anyone interested in participating is asked to register their family by Tuesday, Dec. 1. Registration can be handled on-line at Brewtonfirst.org/ministries.

“The sooner they register the better,” Byrd said “Once they register we will assemble the ‘Dough Holy Night’ kit for each family. Kits will include supplies and ingredients to make their cookies. Those kits will then be delivered to their home or will be made available for pick-up in the days before the event.”
