James “Jim” Carman Weaver completed his journey of “finishing well” and entered into his heavenly, eternal rest on Friday, December 11, 2020, at the age of 89.

He was born in Parkersburg, WV, on March 5, 1931, and had been a resident of Brewton since 1996. James was a retired professional electrical engineer (Florida Power & Light). He graduated from Parkersburg High School (1949) and served in the United States Air Force (1950-54). He worked at Kennedy Space Center (Cape Canaveral) during the Apollo missions. James was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, East Brewton. He was an aspiring author, having self-published several novels. In addition to writing, James enjoyed growing flowers, making wooden toys for children, and helping others who were less fortunate than he. He was a loving and caring husband to Damaris (“Dee”) Esther Weaver, who also passed into eternity on November 27, 2020. “Jim” and “Dee” were married May 20, 1989.

James also was preceded in death by his parents, Carrell Honest Weaver and Grace Magdalene Kerns Weaver; sister, Onie Kittle; brother, Larry Weaver; first wife, Edith Faye Weaver; and other family members.

James is survived by his sons, James C. Weaver, Jr. (Terry) of Levittown, Penn., and Phillip E. Weaver (Kim) of Hammond, La.; stepson, Marcos Robles; stepdaughter, Idel Robles/Altenburg; sisters, Patty Scritchfield Wolfer of Belpre, Ohio, Emolene Lynch of Coolville, Ohio, and Mary Stephens (Tom) of Parkersburg, W. Va.; his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many other family members.

A memorial service for James and Damaris Weaver was held at Williams Memorial Chapel, Brewton, on Monday, December 28, 2020. Interment followed at the Green Acres Memorial Park in Brewton.

Williams Memorial Chapel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to the Gideons International or the Young America’s Foundation (Reagan Ranch del Cielo).
