The Alabama Department of Public Health has released information that vaccines for COVID-19 have been arriving in Alabama over the past several days with one of the vaccines coming from Moderna. In addition to the vaccine produced by Moderna, vaccine supplies are also arriving in the state from Pfizer and BioNTech.

Based on released information on Tuesday from ADPH, Allocations of Moderna COVID-19 vaccine have been received and are being distributed to 90 sites in Alabama. Additional allocations of the two-dose vaccines are expected on a weekly basis. As of December 28, 20,354 doses of Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine had been administered in the state.

Ian Moore, a Brewton native and T.R. Miller High School graduate, was one of the researchers on the project that helped in developing the vaccine for Moderna.
