BMS 7th grader wins district spelling bee

Escambia County held its district spelling bee today.

Layla Whiting, a seventh grader from Brewton Middle School, won the spelling bee and will represent the county at the state spelling bee on March 27. The bee will be held at the University of Alabama.

Ethan Medibles, a fifth grader at W.S. Neal Middle School, is the alternate.

Lilyanna Hammonds, a sixth grader from Flomaton Elementary; and Nevaehous Henderson, a fourth grader from Brewton Elementary, also participated in the bee.
