Beginning in the fall, Megan Benton will be far from home but pursuing her college education.

Last week Benton signed her letter of acceptance for a scholarship and will become a part of the wrestling team at York College in York, Neb.

A senior at W.S. Neal High School in East Brewton, Benton has been a hard worker for the girl’s wrestling team.

Wrestling Coach J.T. Gosnell said he isn’t surprised by the offer from the college.

“Megan is good at what she does,” Gosnell said. “She looked at some schools and the offer from York came along. After looking at the offer, she made the decision to continue wrestling with the team there.”

Summer and Kevin Benton, Meagan’s parents, said they are excited for their daughter even though she will be far from home.

“Here we go,” Summer said. “Ready or not.”

York College is a Christian-focused college and athletes play as Panthers for the teams on campus.

The mission of York College is to transform lives through Christ-centered education and to equip students for lifelong service to God, family and society.
