Members of the Sandcut Volunteer Fire Department were on hand to receive a check aimed at helping with needed items for the department.

Elizabeth Bush, owner of The Butterfly Boutique, recently held a fundraiser through her business selling Paparazzi jewelry. Through the sale of the special pieces, Bush let buyers know that their purchases would be donated to the department.

“My customers are awesome,” Bush said. “I give them the credit for making this donation possible.”

The fundraiser, which spanned a few weeks in February, netted several hundred dollars for the group.

“There is no specific plan right now for the money,” Bush said.. “The Department is working to rebuild their funds just to be able to take care of day-to-day needs.”

The Sandcut Volunteer Fire Department is just one of many volunteer fire fighter groups in the county. The group is a non-profit organization and depends on volunteers to provide manpower for the needs of the community they serve.
