With many organizations crippled by restrictions relating to the current pandemic situation, one local group is excited to be able to hold their first big fund raiser of the year.

Brewton’s Paws Crossed Dog Rescue, Inc., will be hosting a “Run for Rescues” this weekend at the Gordy Dog Park at the intersection of Sowell Street and St. Nicholas Avenue.

The event is being sponsored by Georgia-Pacific and Provalus which will help to make the event a success, organizers said.

For those interested in participating in the event, registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday with the race getting underway at 8 a.m. Registration is $20 per adult (14 and older) with youth at $10 (ages 5 to 14). Children under 4 are free. Family registration, with three or more members, is $40 and team (four or more) fees are $50.

Leashed dogs are welcome and there will be adoptable dogs available to join runners on the walk.

Refreshments will be available during the event and will be provided by Provalus.

All proceeds from the event will benetif Paws Crossed Dog Rescue, Inc.

Gordy Park was established to provide a space for exercise and interaction for pets and pet owners around the community. The park is open seven days a week and is free to the public.
