The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce is once again seeking nominations for the annual “Citizen of the Year” award — but this year, there is a twist to the usual nomination process.

“Due to the 2020 COVID-19 Pandemic, we have made changes to our Citizen of the Year nomination guidelines,” said Judy Crane, executive director for the Chamber organization. “We are looking to honor a healthcare professional and/or a first responder for their superior services to our community during the pandemic.”

Crane said the nominated person must have lived in the Brewton or East Brewton area  for at least three years.

Nominations must be received by the Chamber no later than Friday, April 23 to be included for consideration for the honor.

The Citizen of the Year will be announced during the Chamber membership social set for May.

To nominate someone for the honor, please submit a letter with information on the details to be considered for the honor. Mail all nominations to: Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, Citizen of the Year 2020, 1010B Douglas Avenue, Brewton, AL  36426. Nominations may also be submitted in person at the Chamber offices located inside the Brewton City Hall complex on Douglas Avenue. The office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
