Escambia County Emergency Management Director David Adams is already busy keeping an eye on the Gulf of Mexico.

With the increasing strength of Invest 92L, all weather eyes are on the system and its expected development.

“The latest information from the National Weather Service in Mobile in reference to the tropical disturbance that is located in the Bay of Campeche is showing expected strengthening,” Adams said.  “The disturbance is expected to develop into a tropical depression by Friday and move to the northern Gulf Coast over the weekend.  The major impacts to Escambia County are expected to be heavy rainfall with possible flash flooding in some areas.  Rainfall totals in the county are expected to be from 4-8 inches through the weekend.  Some isolated tornadoes may be possible.”

With that information, Adams also advised area residents to stay tuned to local sources for watches/warnings and updates in the forecast. As with any storm, changes could occur quickly.

The attached graphic will show the expected rainfall from the storm.
