Reid State Technical College Director of Adult Education Caroll Byrd-Lymon was honored to present at the 2021 Adult Education Summer Conference on June 10. Mrs. Byrd-Lymon gave a virtual presentation on Post-Testing Strategies for EFl Gains that received rave reviews from other Adult Education Instructors across the state.

Kristen Bobo, Director of Adult Education from Shelton State stated, “I just want to give major props to Caroll Byrd-Lymon! She did a GREAT job of training in how to make an EFL gain using the TABE this morning.  I recommend Caroll does this again or send her training out to directors to replicate at local in-services. Many instructors around me from other schools are saying this is a game changer!”

When a learner is post-tested, depending on the increase in their TABE scale score, the learner may make an EFL gain which is equivalent to advancing two grade levels. EFL gains are reported as Measurable Skills Gain for NRS reporting. Measurable Skills Gain includes high school equivalency attainment as well as leaner exit and entrance into postsecondary education or training within the program year.

Reid State’s Adult Education Program is within the top three programs in the state with the highest EFL gains.
