Southern Pine Electric Cooperative customers along Ridge Road and Riddle Road may have to wait just a little longer for power to restored in those areas.

Leslie Jackson, spokesman for SPEC in Brewton, said crews are continuing to work to restore power to all customers of the Cooperative.

“As of 8 p.m., about 1,200 members on Riddle Road and Ridge Road are still out of power,” Jackson said. “We anticipate all meters being restored by tomorrow morning. Thank you for your patience.”

The power outages were widespread through the Brewton and East Brewton communities as well as rural areas around the cities. Most power had been restored in some of the hard-hit areas in the path of Tropical Storm Claudette and spin-off tornadoes early Saturday. However, with such widespread outages, some customers are continuing to wait for restoration.

According to Alabama Power’s Outage Map, about 550 customers in the Brewton/East Brewton area remain without power tonight with an projected completion of restoration work by 11 p.m. on Sunday.
