Several groups have made their way to East Brewton from across the country with one goal in mind: Help those in need.

Brewton Police Chief Kenny Brazile said three groups have come to the city to offer assistance with clean up of debris from the June 19 tornado in the community.

“We have people who have flown into our area to help with debris removal and clean up,” Brazil said. “We have teams from California, Tennessee and Florida here now that are ready to help. They have rented equipment to pick up and haul off some of the larger things and they are looking for some additional volunteers to help them in the process.”

Brazil said manpower is the main need for the groups as they continue their mission to help the community recover.

“They have everything they need as far as equipment,” Brazil said. “They have chain saws and other tools needed to accomplish their tasks. They just need some manpower. Anyone who would be able to volunteer, even for just a little while, would be a big help to these groups who came to help.”

If you would like to volunteer to help with cleanup, contact the East Brewton Municpal Court department at 867-4091 or 251-314-1442.
