Kay Leigh Faircloth, adult education instructional and Ready to Work coordinator for Coastal Alabama Community College, has announced graduates of the successful program in June.

“We had a successful program this June which included four recent graduates from local high schools,” Faircloth said. “With the guidance of their wonderful teacher, Ms. Leketha Bradley, they all four graduated from the program with their National Career Readiness Certificate and their Alabama Certified Worker Certificate. They also earned a scholarship that can be used toward any 4-credit class at Coastal Alabama Community College.”

Faircloth said with the certificates, the students will be able to show future employers and schools  they are well versed in the core skills needed to be successful in any job or program.

In order to earn the Alabama Certified Worker Certificate, students need to show proficiency in the latest in office technology, personal financial literacy, workplace communication and behavior skills, problem solving and critical thinking skills, time management skills, as well as job preparation tools.

The National Career Readiness Certificate is a portable, evidence-based credential that certifies the essential skills for workplace success. Employers look for it from job candidates, whether they come directly from high school, work-based learning programs, or through postsecondary paths, because it is a valid predictor of job performance.

Graduates from the June program completion include Harleigh Crumbley, Jamarcus Leslie, Morgan Jury and Micah Mast.

The Ready to Work (RTW) program is a free basic job training program available to Alabama residents.

The Ready to Work core curriculum consists of six training modules and ACT WorkKeys. All curriculum modules, including ACT WorkKeys, are structured to reinforce the essential skills of reading, writing, listening, speaking and arithmetic.

This program is available to all Alabama residents who are not currently enrolled in school and are currently seeking employment or considering returning to school.
