Baptist Hill church welcomes new pastor

The Baptist HIll Missionary Baptist Church, located at 720 Sowell Road, would like to introduce their newly elected pastor, the Rev. Gary Bryant.

Bryant is a native of Pensacola, Fla., and is the son of Sandy Bryant and Freddie Johnson.

Bryant received his education in the public school system in Escambia County, Fla. He further matriculated at Selma University in Selma, where he earned an Associates Degree and also a degree in bible Studies from West Florida Baptist Institute in Pensacola, Fla.

Pastor Bryant attended Greater Union Missionary Baptist Church as a child and was baptized there under the leadership of the late Rev. A.J. King. After entering the ministry, Bryant was licensed and ordained under Dr. A.L. Durant, pastor of Macedonia Baptist Church. He has served as pastor of the following churches: Spring Hill Baptist Church, New Hope Baptist Church and New Missionary Baptist Church. He also served as associate pastor at Bethel AME Church.

Rev. Bryant was formerly employed at the S.L. Jones Christian Academy where he served as school chaplain, taught high school history and also transported the youth. He is currently employed as an attendant for Benboe Funeral Home in Pensacola, Fla. His short term goal is to pursue a degree in mortuary science.

Pastor Bryant is affiliated with the following organizations: member of NAACP, Baptist Ministries Union in Pensacola, Fla.; he was the first vice moderator of the Equal Rights Progressive District Association; and National Grand chaplain of the International Benevolent Society.

Rev. Bryant loves the Lord and is willing to serve in any capacity possible. He believes that your gifts will make room for you and take you before great men.
