A group of linemen from Southern Pine Electric Cooperative (SPEC) have joined the army of workers making the journey to Lousiana to help with power restoration to an area ravaged by Hurricane Ida on Sunday.

Leslie Jackson with SPEC in Brewton said the crews departed for St. Tammany and Washington Parish in Lousiana to assist with rebuilding power lines in the area.

The team will be working in Franklinton, La., in the coming days in an effort to restore power in that area. Washington and St. Tammany Parishes are located in the northeast portion of Lousiana’s “boot” near the Mississippi state line.

No specific return date has been set for the SPEC crew.
