Patrick Weaver, a Brewton native, found a way to not only spread joy and his sassy personality to others through his online apparel store during Covid-19, but also a way to support small and family-owned businesses across the nation.
His apparel brand is making its way into stores, with its first store in his hometown of Brewton. Antigone’s in Downtown in Brewton will be carrying his apparel line, and will be hosting a Sip ‘N Shop event on Feb. 24, at 5:30 pm.
Weaver, a lifelong Brewton native who now resides in Nashville, Tenn., like many others during the pandemic, saw the vast amount of job loss and economic downfall around him.
“I grew up in a working-class family, and it broke my heart to see businesses closing all around me,” Weaver said.
In addition to working full-time as a marketing manager, Weaver is also a fashion blogger with more than 15,000 followers across his social media platforms.
“I knew I could sell my apparel to my followers, but I wanted it be something that did more good, for more people,” Weaver says.
That’s when he started working on his own apparel brand, SMOOCH. A genderless apparel company that is 100 percent made in America, and printed by small and family-owned businesses across the country.
“SMOOCH was never about making a ton of money for myself,” Weaver said. “I wanted to do what I could to help others and their businesses. So I researched and found a company that I could partner with that would handle all of the printing and shipping for me through its network of USA-based small and family-owned businesses. It’s like a full-circle moment for me. To have been raised in this working-class town, and to now have something I created for sale in a store here, it makes me emotional. I love my hometown. So, not only are all pieces of my line made by working-class people in America, but now it’s also going to be sold by working-class people that I know, who saw my brand’s vision and loved it.”
Weaver is a 2012 graduate of T.R. Miller High School. Following his graduation, he attended the University of Alabama where he earned his BA degree in public relations and minored in marketing and communications. He graduated from UA in 2016.
Upon graduation from college, Weaver moved to Nashville, Tenn., where he has been based for the last five and a half years.
“I’m a fashion and beauty influencer and host of the ‘Behind the Filter’ podcast,” Weaver said. “During the day, I work full time as the digital marketing and sales manager for Juice Analytics. I’m one of the youngest marketing and sales managers in that industry in the entire United States.”
Weaver and SMOOCH Brand Ambassador, Brenna McPherson, who is a current NFL cheerleader for the Tennessee Titans will on hand for the special event at Antigone’s.
