The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominees for the annual Citizen of the Year awards.
The award will be presented during the Chamber’s annual banquet set for March 15.
Judy Crane, executive director for the Chamber, said nominations will be accepted through Feb. 28.
“The person nominated must live in the Brewton or East Brewton area,” Crane said. “The recipient’s achievements must have contributed to the enrichment of the Brewton or East Brewton in areas of business or professional achievements or in community/civic affairs.”
In the area of business or professional achievement, nominees must have established a successful business or been the person with the primary responsibility of the business.
“The Chamber is a business based organization and we want to honor citizens that have created jobs in the area,” Crane said.
In the area of community or civic affairs, the nominee must be active for a period of several years in community of civic work. The person may have worked in one or more of several areas such as health and welfare, education, religion, cultural or other social causes.
To submit a nomination, send information to: Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, Citizen of the Year 2021, 1010B Douglas Avenue, Brewton, AL 36427.
Once the deadline is reached, no additional nominations will be accepted.
The nomination committee will meet to select the recipient or recipients for this year’s award.
Last year, the Chamber honored two individuals during their annual gathering.
Brewton Police Officer Heath Madison and Brewton nurse Robin Griffin were awarded the annual honor at the gathering last May.
In 2019, Hal Whitman received the honor from the Chamber of Commerce.
This year’s event will again be held at The Hourglass in downtown Brewton. A social time will begin at 5:30 p.m. with the banquet and awards ceremony set to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 each and must be purchased on later than March 4.
