Information released by the Escambia County Health Care Authority this week, shows a continuing decline in the number of positive cases of COVID in the county.
According to the information, only 81 cases of the virus were confirmed in the county with 59 cases seen at D.W. McMillan Hospital in Brewton and 22 cases at Atmore Community Hospital.
Across Alabama, the number of cases is continuing the downward trend. Over the last seven days, a 6.3 percent positive rate has been seen across the state while Escambia County has reported a 5.7 percent positive rate for cases. Only six cases were positively identified in the county during the most recent seven-day period.
In a statewide data report, Escambia County is listed as “moderate” for the overall level of community transmission. That term is translated to having 10 to 50 new cases or a 5 to 8 percent positivity rate. Neighboring counties of Covington and Baldwin Counties are also labled as moderate with Covington County labeled as substantial.
