Escambia County may once again be under the gun for potentially severe weather Tuesday evening into the overnight hours.

On Monday, Escambia County Emergency Management Director David Adams said the entire area is once again falling into the risk zone for severe weather.

“According to the National Weather Service in Mobile, the is a ‘slight’ risk of severe storms for Tuesday and into early Wednesday morning,” Adams said Monday. “Potential threats include winds capable of damaging trees, powerlines, structures, and crops; possible tornadoes, and large hail.”

The Tuesday forecast follows closely behind a severe weather outbreak last Friday that left multiple families homeless due to straight-line winds in the western portion of the county, specifically in the Poarch community.

Residents across the south are being cautioned to stay weather aware during the day and into the overnight hours on Tuesday.

Adams also reminds everyone in Escambia County that The NOAA Weather Radio transmitter for Escambia County in Brewton is still out of service. He encouraged everyone to please be sure to monitor other sources for warnings and updates.
