Escambia County Emergency Management Director David Adams has released information regarding possible severe weather for the area Wednesday night into early Thursday.

On Tuesday, Adams said the entire Gulf Coast region has been forecast to expect severe weather.

“The risk of severe weather has increased to “Moderate” (or 4 out of 5),” Adams said.  “This means that there is a strong chance that we will see some strong and possibly severe weather.”

The timing for the expected severe weather will be late Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning according to information released from the National Weather Service in Mobile.

For the Brewton area, severe conditions could be seen as early as 8 p.m. with more exact time expected between 11 a.m. Wednesday and 5 a.m. on Thursday morning. (Please see attached graphic.)

In addition to possibility of tornadoes and straight-line winds, a large amount of rain is expected to result from the passing system. NWS officials estimate between 1 and 1.5 inches of rainfall in a short amount of time which could result in flash flooding in some areas.
