If you see an enthusiastic group of young women and men at T.R. Miller High School baseball teams, you may be witness to some enthusiastic support.
Just a few years ago, The Diamond Dolls and Dawgs group was started after Miller Baseball Coach Kevin Madden saw a similar group at another school
Debra Mullis Jerkins, sponsor of the group, said they are up for anything that could help their school’s team.
“They girls attend every home baseball game,” Jerkins said. “they fetch fly balls and help in the concession stand. Really, they are willing to help with most anything that is needed to make the baseball games and Coach Madden a success.”
Jerkins said Madden thought such a group would be helpful at T.R. Miller and initiated the beginning of the current group.
In addition to helping out at the games, the group also makes treat bags for team members and coaches when they have away games.
“It’s just to show that we have your back,” Jerkins said. “Showing our support is crucial in all sports.”
The group will continue to work with and support the T.R. Miller Tiger baseball team this season.
