Weekend events to celebrate Easter

Several events are planned throughout the community this weekend as a celebration of Easter.
Holy Week services continue today (Wednesday) through Friday at area churches. The remaining schedule includes services at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church today at noon with the Rev. Patrick Madden of St. Maurice Catholic Church preaching. Thursday’s service will be at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Bobby Ellisor of First Methodist Church brining the message. Friday’s service will be at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Cavin Cawthon delivering the message. All services will begin at noon and will be followed by lunch.
On Saturday, residents will have two opportunities to fill Easter baskets with eggs and goodies.
At 10 a.m., Brewton Reborn will be hosting an 10 am—Eggciting Egg Hunt at Dogwood Hills. Children of all ages are invited to the event.
For the second egg hunt, the public is invited to join in an Easter Egg Hunt at Sportsman Park on MLK Drive. The event gets underway at 2 p.m. and will include food, prizes, games and more. The event is free and open to the public.
On Saturday, May Creek Community Church, at 6937 Ridge Road, will host special guests, Ricky and Mrs. Ileta beginning at 10 a.m. The service will be followed with an Egg Hunt and snacks.
On Sunday, May Creek Community Church will be hosting a Sunrise Service (weather permitting) at 6:30 a.m. at the church.
An Easter Service at Baptist Hill Missionary Baptist Church will be held Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The service will be followed with breakfast in the church fellowship hall.
