July 4th is gearing up to be a fun day in the city of East Brewton with the annual celebration set to kick off at 9 a.m.
Christy Edwards, city clerk for the host city, said the customary events are set and ready to host a full day of activities.
“The spades tournament will start the day beginning at 9 a.m. at the East Brewton S.A.I.L. Center on Williamson Street,” Edwards said. “The tournament entry will be $5 for a single player or $10 for teams.”
The S.A.I.L. Center will also be the location for the annual Bingo games as well, Edwards said. The cost will be $2 per card with plenty of prizes available for those who win games during the afternoon of play.
Concessions will be avilable throughout the day at the Center and again at Ft. Crawford Park.
The events will move to the park beginning at 4 p.m. for the Horseshoe Tournament. Cost for entry is $5 per thrower.
“Our live entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. with local entertainers,” Edwards said. “Our featured entertainment will begin at 8 p.m. with A Touch of Blue playing until fireworks begin at 9:30 p.m.”
A big attraction will be the Duck Races planned again this year. Ducks are $5 each and are available now at East Brewton City Hall.
“Ducks will be available up to 5 p.m. on July 4th,” Edwards said. “We will have ducks available at the park on race day.”
Prizes for the duck race winners will be $200 for first; $100 for second; and $50 for third place finishers.
