Students at Brewton Elementary School are getting a chance to preview the selection for the annual Book Fair at the school this week. This week will allow the children to view the items available for purchase during the Fair event set to kick off to sales next week.
Rhonda Joyner, librarian at Brewton Elementary School, said the preview week is important for the students and for the teachers.
“By having a preview week, the students can come in a look around to see what they may be interested in purchasing,” Joyner said. “They make a wish list and then come back next week with their money and make the purchases.”
Joyner said students aren’t the only ones making wish lists this week.
“Our teachers also look around to see what books might be appropriate for their classrooms,” Joyner said. “They make a wish list and some of the students may purchase those books for their classrooms.”
Although students may purchase books for their classrooms, its more likely that parents or grandparents will be willing to make those purchases on a special day set aside for family to join the students in the Book Fair.
Parent contact day is set for Monday, Oct. 10 and will allow parents to shop with their children from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Grandparents are invited to shop on Wednesday, Oct. 12 at the following times for respective grades: Kindergarten – 1 to 2 p.m., first grade – 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; second grade – 10:25 to 11:25 a.m.; third grade – 9:20 to 10:20 a.m.; and fourth grade – 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. following the schedules recently provided to each student and family.
Joyner said the annual Book Fair is something faculty and students look forward to every year.
