Economic times make running a business challenging, but one local business has stood the test of time and is celebrating two decades of business in the Brewton community.
Jus Do, owned by Melanie McGougin, opened its doors 20 years ago and has seen many changes along the way. From changing locations twice during that time to finding a permanent home on Douglas Avenue in mid town.
McGougin said the adventure that is her business has been a blessing on many levels.
“As I reflect on my company’s 20 year anniversary, I mostly think- how did I get here,” McGougin said. “I feel a rush of gratitude as well as what I can only describe as “WOW”! I have learned and experienced so much in these wonderful and sometimes difficult years. Running a small business in a small town is a task in today’s time, and I would not have reached this milestone without my wonderful customers.”
McGougin not only credits individual customers with her success and longevity, but also the business and industry in the community.
“From businesses to schools to clubs to individuals-I can not thank you enough for your support,” McGougin said. “It has been my pleasure to provide you with gifts, signs, banners, and awards. You are the reason I am here!”
Jus Do began in a location on South Boulevard in 2002 and moved to the current location on Douglas Avenue in 2007 after making a stop in historic downtown Brewton along the way.
The shop is filled with gift and clothing items as well as home decor. The business is home to providing signs, banners, trophies, awards and more.
Hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday with special hours during special events and throughout the holidays. The shop is located at 720 Douglas Avenue in the mid-town area of Brewton and can be reached at 251-867-8686.
