A jail employee with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office is facing charges of his own after he was accused of misconduct with an inmate.
Eric Glenn Lambeth Jr. was arrested on April 7 and was taken into custody on the charges.
Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson said the charges and arrest were the result of a complaint received about Lambeth’s conduct.
“On April 4, 2023, a complaint was received of an Escambia County Deputy Sheriff having sexual contact with an inmate who was being transported to jail,” Jackson said. “An investigation was conducted and after a thorough review, Lambeth was arrested and charged with Custodial Sexual Abuse and a Felony Ethics Violation.”
Jackson said Lambeth was terminated from his position with the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
He was transported to the Escambia County Detention Center following his arrest. Bond in the case was set at $45,000. Lambeth was later released on bond, Jackson said.
Lambeth previously worked for the Escambia County jail and had been assigned to patrol and sent to Police Academy early in 2022.
