A T.R. Miller High School senior has taken a state title for the second straight year in wrestling.
Brody Hayes took the 3A State Champ title during the 1A-4A Wrestling State Championship meet in Huntsville on Saturday, the final day of the event.
During the championship round of the competition, Hayes wrestled the number one seed of the north section, Nathan Cox of Madison County High School.
After going all three rounds in the match, Hayes clenched the state title — for the second straight year — with a score of 11-6.
Hayes finished his season undefeated with a 40-0 record for the year and an overall record of 241-37.
He has also won two All-American titles at Deep South Nationals.
Besides wrestling, Hayes enjoys playing the guitar, hunting, fishing and hanging out with his friends.
After graduation, Hayes plans to attend Auburn University and pursue engineering.
Brody is the son of Kyle and LaCresha Hayes of Brewton.
Other wrestlers competing at the state level from T.R. Miller High School were Josh Byrd, and Garrison Little.
