Newly-elected Congressman Barry Moore will be making a trip to Brewton soon.
The Escambia County Republic Party will host the Congressman at their monthly meeting on March 17.
Jackie Gay, an organizer and worker with the Escambia County Republican Committee, said getting Moore on the agenda has been a months-long process.
“I have been working since early January on a plan to get Rep. Moore to Brewton,” Gay said. “It’s a process. And, with everything going on and all the places he has to be, it has been difficult locking down a time for him to visit.”
Gay said she knew that Moore had prior engagements for an out-of-the-country trip during March, but got word that the trip had been cancelled.
“I made a call to his office and began work on seeing if he could fit us into his schedule,” Gay said. “After a couple of conversations, I received word on Monday that he would be able to accommodate us on March 17.”
Gay said she is not aware of a specific subject Moore will share with those who attend the meeting, but is happy to have him commit to visiting Brewton.
“I’m excited to know he’s going to join us,” Gay said. “I’m sure he will have lots to share about everything that’s happening right now.”
The Escambia County Republic Committee holds monthly meetings at The Hourglass in downtown Brewton. Meetings of the group are open to the public with everyone invited to attend.
