Extension Services offers series of programs in March

The Escambia County Extension Service has planned several programs that will benefit area residents covering a variety of topics. The workshops will all be held at the office building located on Ag Science Drive behind the offices of Southern Pine Electric Cooperative off South Boulevard in Brewton.

On March 12-13, the Service will offer chainsaw safety training. The event is designed for anyone who uses a chainsaw, whether for work or personal use. Lunch will be provided on both days. The two-day program will from from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

On March 15, a Beekeeping Class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon. The class is for those who are interested in starting their own beekeeping operation. Tools and knowledge needed to get into beekeeping will be presented. whether you are a hobbyist or looking to turn your passion into a business, the class will be of great help.

On March 18-19, a ServSafe Certification workshop will be presented. The workshop is for anyone in healthcare, nutrition or the restaurant industry. The two-day class will allow participants to gain the skills needed to pass the ServeSafe exam. Registration is required. Fees are $80 without books or $150 with books included. The Goat Program will be offered on March 25 from 1 to 4 p.m. If you are interested in raising goats or learning more about goat care, the class will cover everything from basic care to breeding and marketing.
