Writer’s Workshop sessions planned

Writers from Brewton, East Brewton and surrounding areas will present their works over the next several Thursdays beginning March 20 and continue with Thursday events April 3 and April 10. The event kicks off March 20 at the McMillan Museum of Fine Arts on the Brewton campus of Coastal Alabama Community College. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. with coffee and pastries with the program beginning at 10:45 and ending at noon. Local writers will continue to read and present their works at the museum on April 3 and end with a presentation April 10 inside the sanctuary of St. Stephens Episcopal Church in Brewton.
‘Community Writers Strengthen Communities’ is the theme of the event that involves local writers who have collectively written 45 books, served as editors for national professional journals, published articles in numerous international, national, regional, state and local issues published in magazines and newspapers.
The writers have also published works in more than 15 different academic journals and have composed or arranged songs and written lyrics for musical composition.
The series includes local writers of fiction, nonfiction and more that cross all genre who, by writing stories, are sharing the potential to foster collaboration, engagement, expression, engagement, expression and dialog.
“This is a great opportunity for people to come out and see the talent we have in our own community,” said Gwen McCorquodale, who coordinated the events. “We have a lot of talent in our community and it needs to be shared and I hope people will embrace this opportunity to listen to the works written by people our area.”
