A large group gathered Monday to hear from Rep. Barry Moore (R).
The Escambia County Republican Committee hosted Moore at The Hour Glass giving the representative a chance to give the public a look at his congressional work.
“I’m in the fight for you,” Moore said. “It is so frustrating at times, but it is much better than it was six months ago.”
Moore said President Donald Trump is working to make life in America better, and he believes the country is on the right track.
“I feel much better about the direction our country is heading,” Moore said. “And, based on surveys of our people, Americans feel better about the direction we’re going in.”
Moore said congress and the president have vowed not to cut social security or Medicare as they move forward in cutting waste, fraud and abuse of the country’s money.
“We are still looking at no tax on Social Security,” Moore said. “But we’re looking at ways we can balance that. It’s your money and we’re not gonna touch it.”
Moore said the country’s spending has been out of control and finding ways to cut spending and keep American dollars in America is a top priority.
“If we keep spending like we’re spending, we are headed into a debt spiral,” Moore said. “DOGE is finding money that’s going to other countries that you’ll never see any benefit from. Your kids and grandkids will be paying interest on that money.”
Moore said new information will be coming out in the weeks ahead and is anxious for those revelations.
“I’m excited about what we’re going to uncover,” Moore said. “It’s going to be an exciting ride over the next few months. This is an historic time in our country.”
Moore said he is working for the benefit of the country and wants to remain accessible for those he serves in District 1.
“I look at this as a calling on our lives,” Moore said. “I was in the garbage business before, so the transition from garbage to politics was easy. I am here and ready to serve you. If you have any issues with IRS, VA issues or almost anything, we can get you some help.”
Moore said he has offices in Bay Minette, Foley, Tillman’s Corner, Dothan, Andalusia, and of course, Washington, D.C.
He said each office has a staff ready to assist with any needs.
“My wife Heather is with me,” Moore said. “You are getting two for the price of one with her. She works for free for the taxpayers. We both believe this is a calling on our lives. We are ready to serve you.”
Born and raised in Coffee County, Moore is a veteran, small business owner, and former member of the Alabama State House.
Moore returned to his hometown of Enterprise to start Hopper-Moore Inc., an industrial waste hauling company, which has also been an Alabama general contractor for more than two decades.
In 2010, Barry was recruited to run for the Alabama State House to represent District 91 and served for eight years.
Moore, and his wife and business partner, Heather, are the proud parents of four children. They are active members of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Enterprise.
