After more than 40 years of being “on call” David Adams is hanging up his emergency management hat.
Adams, who has served as the Escambia County Emergency Management Agency director for the past 19 years, will make his last appearance in the EMA office on Friday.
“It feels good knowing it’s this close,” Adams said. “I’m tired and I’m ready to retire. After being on call 24/7 for the last 40 years, it’s time for a change.”
Adams also serves as a volunteer member of the Century Volunteer Fire Department where he has held assistant chief and chief during his 47 years with the department.
Adams was also an employee with the City of Flomaton serving as the utilities superintendent there before leaving to take on the County’s EMA role in 2006.
He continues to be active in his role as a volunteer firefighter.
