The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce is getting back to the basics this year for the annual Kick It at the Creek event set for Sunday, April 27 at Jennings Park.
“We’re just doing crawfish this year,” said Judy Crane, Executive Director for the Chamber. “That’s how the event started and we’re getting back to that. We have 1600 pounds ordered for the event.”
Although the crawfish — or mudbugs — will be the highlight of the menu, pizza by the slice will also be available for those looking for options.
Josh Godwin will be the chef in charge of cooking the crawfish and the traditional sides to go with the popular crustacean.
Those looking for some entertainment will also be able to bring a chair or blanket to enjoy the show.
Set to take the stage will be the local group, Mancil Rock Band.
Sponsors for the event include David’s Catfish House and Georgia-Pacific.
Crane said no pre-sales will be made for the crawfish boil, with sales taking place on the day of the event. Plates will be prepared to-go for those wishing to take their crawfish home. Each plate is $25.
In addition to the Chamber’s feast, Brewton Brew will be there as well as The Cactus Shack with drinks and other options available.
T-shirts for the event will also be available at the Chamber tent.
The event will begin at 2 p.m. and continue until 5 p.m. or until all crawfish are sold.
Jennings Park is located off St. Nicholas Avenue and Ann Street near downtown Brewton.
