County BOE approves changes, positions

The Escambia County Board of Education on April 24 approved curriculum and student development materials during its regular meeting in Brewton.
The board approved the following consent and action items:
• approved an out-of-state trip for W.S. Neal High School’s cheer team to attend camp in LaGrange, Ga., from July 15-17, 2025;
• approved an out-of-state travel trip for Superintendent Dr. Michele Collier to attend Powerschool Edge 2025 Conference from July 22-25 in Nashville, Tenn.;
• approved the 2025 Summer School Salary Schedule and summer work hours;
• approved organizational change;
• approved the following positions – guidance and support services supervisor, to be paid under the supervisor pay scale; attendance supervisor, to be paid under the supervisor pay scale; personnel administrator/supervisor, to be paid under the supervisor pay scale; and network administrator, to be paid under MSV pay scale;
• approved a contract with Curriculum Associates for iReady for $163,208, to be paid out of FY25 A&T funds;
• approved the purchase of library materials from PermaBound for A.C. Moore Primary School for $55,998.89, to be paid out of Pre-K funds, local and carry over, for the school’s library;
• approved the renewal of the annual Cognia membership for $16,800, to be paid out of local funds;
• approved the repair of the audio system for $7,850, and the purchase of speaker mics and a subwoofer for $8,145 for the Escambia County High School auditorium from Audio Plus, to be paid out of FY24 A&T funds;
• approved the purchase of a fire alarm system for $23,000 for Flomaton Middle School wing from Audio Plus, to be paid out of FY24 A&T funds;
• approved the purchase of phonics curriculum program from 95 Percent Group for $15,017;
• approved the contract with Appetegy Inc. for mobile app and web development for $28,268.75, to be paid out of FY25 A&T funds;
• approved the contract with Heinemann for the purchase of Do The Math Legacy 25-26 and summer school 25 consumables for $72,112.61;
• approved to enter into a contract with IXL Learning for educational technology for elementary school services for $37,500, to be paid out of FY25 A&T funds;
• approved the change order for WSNHS storm doors for $164,290.50; and,
• approved the contract with Innovative Behavioral and Consulting Services for behavior analytic consultation services for the 2025-26 school year, to be paid out of FY26 IDEA.
The board also met in executive session, and once out of the session, approved the expulsion of three ECHS students. Each student will be allowed to receive educational services through Escambia County Virtual School.
The next regular board meeting will be held May 8, 2025, at 4:30 p.m. at Atmore Central Office.
