Day of Prayer set for Thursday

Area pastors will be gathering on the steps of the Escambia County Courthouse on Thursday to lead the National Day of Prayer.
Located on Belleville Avenue near downtown Brewton, the Courthouse will play host to the annual day of observance.
Participating in the event that begins at 12:05 p.m. Thursday will be:
Opening Prayer – Rev. Cavin Cawthon;
Pledge of Allegiance to the Flags – Rev. Macon Phillips;
Scripture and Prayer for Education – Rev. Chris Patterson;
Scripture and Prayer for Business – Rev. Pat Poole;
Scripture and Prayer for First Responders – Rev. Steve Massingill;
Song “God Bless America” – Rev. Seth Stanton;
Scripture and Prayer for Government – Rev. Parker Johnson;
Scripture and Prayer for Military – Rev. Tommy Quick;
Scripture and Prayer for Family – Rev. Joshua Doss;
Scripture and Prayer for Church – Rev. Macon Phillips
Closing Prayer Rev. Cavin Cawthon. The event will conclude at 12:35 p.m.
The National Day of Prayer for 2025 will carry the theme “Pour Out to the God of Hope and Be Filled” across the United States.
The National Day of Prayer is an annual day of observance designated by the United States Congress and held on the first Thursday of May, when people are asked “to turn to God in prayer and meditation”. The president is required by law to sign a proclamation each year, encouraging all Americans to pray on this day.
