Joseph “Joey” Shell, a lifelong resident and dedicated public servant, proudly announces his candidacy for Mayor of East Brewton.
Known as ‘Joey’ to friends and neighbors, he brings nearly five decades of service, leadership, and commitment to our community.
Joey has served with the East Brewton Fire Department for 49 years, including 30 years as Fire Chief, ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. For 34 years, he has been a steadfast member of the East Brewton Water Board, working to provide reliable and clean water to our community. He currently serves as Treasurer of the Escambia County E911 Board, a role he has held as part of his 24-year tenure on the board, enhancing emergency services for our region. Additionally, Joey has led the East Brewton Baseball and Softball League for 27 years and has been President of the Greater Brewton Area Church Softball League for the past 30 years, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship, and community spirit among our youth and adults. A devoted member of First Baptist Church Brewton, Alabama, Joey’s faith guides his service and commitment to the values of our community.
A 1976 graduate of W.S. Neal High School, Joey’s deep roots in East Brewton are matched by his dedication to its future. In 2017, he was honored as Citizen of the Year, a testament to his tireless contributions and love for our town.
“I am running for Mayor to continue serving the people of East Brewton with integrity, experience, and a vision for a stronger, united community,” said Joey. “Together, we can build on our proud traditions while creating new opportunities for every resident.”
