Cosey joins race for EB Mayor

Michael Cosey isn’t giving up on his dream of serving the people of East Brewton.
Cosey, who has been on the ballot before for city council and mayor, is joining the race for the position of Mayor for East Brewton.
“I am running for mayor because I feel our city needs a restoration,” Cosey said. “I have a vision for the future and I look forward to meeting everyone and having an opportunity to hear your concerns and share the vision for our community.
“I will announce some dates in the future for some meet and greets and invite the community to meet with me. I look forward to earning your vote and ‘restoring our community’ and moving forward.”
Cosey also made a plea for others to join in the fight to move East Brewton to a new future.
“I would like to encourage anyone who feels like they have something to bring to the council table to help the city, to qualify and run for a seat,” Cosey said. “Also for those who are not registered to vote, I encourage you to go to the registrars office in the (Escambia County) Courthouse and see what you need to do to register if you plan to vote.”
Cosey has 22 years of experience working for the city; is a former volunteer assistant yough football coach (three season); a former youth assistant t-ball and baseball coach; youth pastor; lead pastor of four churches currently in his eighth year as pastor at Damascus Community Church; previous candidate for city council in 2004 and 2008, receiving more than 100 votes in each election; previous candidate for mayor in 2016, receiving 85 votes; and has been the youth football announcer for five season.
Municipal elections in East Brewton are set for August 26. Registration to vote must be done at least 14 days before the date of any election.
