Juliette Adams, Institutional Advancement and Grants Assistant at Reid State
Technical College, was recently awarded the Virginia Carter Smith Scholarship by the Council for
Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).
Adams is one of 25 recipients from around the world who were selected based on career
accomplishments, letter of support and potential as a member of the educational advancement
community.
“Juliette’s recognition by CASE is a testament to her dedication, professionalism, and commitment to
growth,” said Dr. Boykin. “We are proud of her accomplishments and excited to see her represent Reid
State on a national stage.”
This award is named for a legendary CASE employee, Virginia “Ginny” Carter Smith, who served CASE
and its members with unwavering passion and dedication from 1975 until retiring in 1991. Among her
many roles, Smith oversaw books, publications, communications, conferences, the Annual Assembly,
the Reference Center, membership, district and board relations and the committee to advance minorities
and women. She also served as acting president twice and was founder and editor
of Currents magazine. Smith passed away in 1995.
“I am thrilled to represent Reid State at the CASE Conference this fall,” Adams said. “It is such an honor
to be recognized by CASE for doing a job I love.”
Funds from the scholarship will be used by Adams to offset expenses from attending the CASE
Conference for Community College Advancement in New Orleans, La. in October.
“Great things are happening at Reid State and I can’t wait to bring the new skills I’m learning back home
to put them to work,” she added.
CASE is a global nonprofit association that serves professionals who work in advancement, a field that
includes alumni relations, communications, fundraising, marketing and development, primarily in
education institutions like colleges, universities and independent schools.
