Rodgers celebrates 100th birthday

Family and friends of Annie Rodgers gathered for a special celebration Monday afternoon at Westgate Village.
The honoree was feted with full party fare in celebration of her 100th birthday, complete with birthday cake and balloons.
Rodgers, who was born May 18, 1925 in Blackburn, Ala., has lived in various places in her life. She was a military wife of the late Lee Rodgers, and moved around quite a bit, she said.
Citing some of her favorite things, the honoree is somewhat of an artist.
“I love to draw,” Rodgers said. “And, I still do it as much as I can.”
Rodgers also reminisced about her time as a Sunday School teacher at North Brewton Baptist Church.
“I always loved the babies,” Rodgers said. “I taught a lot of different ages aver the 12 years I taught Sunday School.”
Family members on hand for the celebration (shown surrounding the honoree) were her daughter, Judy Garrett; grandchildren Leah Ivey and Steven Garrett; great-granddaughter, Kayla Raines; and great-great-grandchildren, Chesley Raines, Cheston Rains, and Ridge Raines; and family friend,Cecil Ray Ivey.
