Freddie Gene Roberts – Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Freddie Gene Roberts passed away peacefully in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on May 7, 2025 at the age of 81.
Freddie was born in Opp, to John and Evelyn Roberts and was a life-long resident of Brewton. He was known as a God-fearing family man with immovable faith and a love for all people. He never knew a stranger and was loved by all that knew him.
In 1958, he was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and dedicated his life to serving God and sharing his Bible based hope with others.
Freddie attended primary school in North Brewton and graduated from T.R Miller High School in 1962.
Shortly thereafter, he married the love of his life, Carole. Together they raised three children. He had a 40-year career at Container Corporation of America, eventually retiring in 2004.
Freddie will be remembered fondly for his endless compassion, generosity, humor, kindness and wisdom. His friends and family will cherish his memory and the joy he brought to each of their lives.
Freddie, or Gene as he was known to family, is survived by his wife Carole; son, Alan Roberts (Sandra); and daughters, Jill Berglund (Bret) and Julie Logsdon (Jef); and grandchildren Michael Roberts (Cassey), Nicholas Roberts and Emily Roberts, Chelsey Berglund, Echo Lashley(Cody), Ethan Clements (Brittany); and five great-grandchildren, Dawson Roberts, Birdie Gene Clements, Charlie Godwin, Dax Godwin, and River Clements.
He is preceded in death by his father and mother, sister Shirley Adams and grandson Chad Berglund.
A memorial will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 323 Foshee Road, Brewton, AL on Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 pm. All are invited to attend and remember a life well lived.
Olin Fields ‘Buck’ Farrior Sr. – Brewton
Dr. Olin Fields “Buck” Farrior, Sr., 71, passed away on May 22, 2025, in Brewton. A devoted family man, lifelong advocate for agriculture and committed community servant, Buck leaves behind a legacy of service, dedication, and love.
Born on April 22, 1954 in Montgomery, Alabama, Buck was the son of John Espy Farrior, Sr. and Lillian Fields Farrior. He pursued his passion for agriculture early in life, earning a bachelor’s degree in Animal and Dairy Science from Auburn University. He continued his academic journey with a master’s degree from Mississippi State University and later earned a Ed. D, from Alabama State University.
Buck dedicated his professional life to the Alabama Extension System, where he served as the County Agent Coordinator for Escambia County. Throughout his career, he worked tirelessly to improve farming practices and promote agricultural education across the region and beyond. His efforts helped countless farmers adopt innovative techniques and sustainable methods that strengthened local communities.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Buck was known for his deep commitment to family and community. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Kathy Youngblood Farrior; their two children: Laura Leigh (Larry) Rambach and Olin Fields (Megan) Farrior, Jr.; and three cherished grandchildren: Kathryn “Kate” Farrior Rambach, Larry “Bo” Edward Rambach, III, and James Everett Farrior. He also leaves behind his brother William “Bob” Robert (Jeri) Farrior.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother John Espy Farrior, Jr.
Buck was known for his quick, dry wit, intellect, and dedication to serving his community. One of his most meaningful contributions came through the Methodist Men’s Ministry, where he helped build over 600 ramps for those in need. His hands-on service exemplified the values he held dear: compassion, humility, and action.
He especially treasured time spent with his grandchildren and took great pride in being involved in their lives. Whether cheering them on at events or teaching them life skills, Buck’s presence was a steady source of encouragement and guidance.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 27, 2025 at 2 p.m. at First Methodist Church of Brewton, officiated by the Rev. Chris Patterson and the Rev. Benny Youngblood
Pallbearers were Pat Poole, Frank Reid, Don Jackson, Dr. Craig Petterson, Burrell Jerkins, Durwood Mantel, and Ronnie Duncan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that gifts be made to the First Methodist Church of Brewton for the Methodist Men’s Ramp Ministry.

Elizabeth Ann Brittain – Brewton
Elizabeth Ann Brittain of Brewton, passed away May 20, 2025 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 83 years old.
Elizabeth Ann was born on February 11, 1942, in Brewton, to William Duncan Barrow and Ruby Burnham Barrow. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Carl David Brittain, Sr., who preceded her in death just a few short months ago. The two shared over 60 years of love together and were blessed with two sons, David and Wesley.
Ann was known as “Nannie” to her four beautiful grandchildren, Duncan, Hunter, Anna Kate and Wyn.
Her marriage to Carl was filled with joy, resilience and true devotion. Now, after a brief time apart, they are reunited in Heaven and are together again.
After graduating from W. S. Neal High School in 1960 she worked as a Dental Assistant for over 50 years. She began her career working for Dr. Jimmy Neighbors, DMD before joining Dr. Michael Dasinger, DMD until his retirement. She then began working for Dr. James Deatherage, DMD until she retired years later. She loved her job and the people that she worked with. Her warmth and care for her patients left a lasting impression on generations of families.
Ann saw beauty in the simple things in life. She had a deep love for flowers and found peace in her flower garden. More than anything, Ann was a wonderful mother and grandmother. Her family was her greatest joy. She poured her heart into her family and loved being with her children and grandchildren. She was a gentle, nurturing presence – loving, compassionate, and full of quiet wisdom. Ann was a member of Zion Hill Baptist church and was a woman of faith that gladly served the Lord.
Ann is preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
She is survived by her two sons David (Cindy), Wesley (Kim), her four grandchildren, Duncan, Hunter, Anna Kate, and Wyn, two brothers Billy Barrow (Becky), Jimmy Barrow and one sister Judy Cardwell, and numerous nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
Ann faced the trials of her disease with dignity and grace, just as she lived her life. Although the final years were difficult, her love for her family was always felt. Even in great sorrow, joy is felt because she is now healed and reunited with her husband and parents resting in her eternal home.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 24, 2025 at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Jim Blair officiating.

Joyce Ann Dasinger – Brewton
Mrs. Joyce Ann Dasinger, 89, of Brewton passed away May 17, 2025 at home peacefully surrounded by her children after a brief illness.
She was a longtime resident of Brewton, Alabama and was a widow of her late husband Dr. Michael A. Dasinger II. She enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and traveling to see them.
She is survived by a daughter, Ruth Ann McCarty (Kurt); sons, Steve G. Dasinger (Suzy), Michael A. Dasinger, III (Aleta), Thomas E. “Tank” Dasinger, and Brian A. Dasinger; a sister, Jacque Wright (Jim); 16 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband, Dr. Michael A. Dasinger, III’ her son, John B. “Jay” Koldewey; her brother, Gene Mullis; and her daughter, Shawn Levenson.
Memorial services were held Saturday, May 25, 2025 at 11 a.m. at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Brewton.
Graveside services were held at the Dasinger-Pope Cemetery in Smuteye.
