Another line of thunderstorms entering the southern half of Mississippi at 6:30 AM will continue to race eastward and is forecast to affect areas south of I-20 from late morning through early evening. A Severe Thunderstorm Watch is in effect for the southern half of Mississippi until 1 pm and will likely be extended into Alabama later this morning.
Damaging wind gusts, hail and localized flooding are the main threats. North of I-20 thunderstorms are also forecast but only a couple of damaging wind gusts and hail are expected.
Additional clusters of storms are likely Wednesday through Friday, but there is low confidence in the timing right now. There does appear to be a low-end severe threat for wind gusts and hail south of I-20 Wednesday afternoon and evening, and across the southern half of the state Thursday afternoon and evening.
