The American Red Cross Alabama and Mississippi Region will roll out its newest mobile blood donation unit thanks to a generous gift from the Poarch Creek Indians.
The new bloodmobile will be officially unveiled during a ribbon-cutting ceremony and community blood drive at Wind Creek Casino & Hotel, 303 Poarch Road, Atmore, AL on Friday, June 20, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The event will be held in partnership with the Poarch Creek Indians and marks a significant investment in expanding access to lifesaving blood donations across the region.
“The addition of this new bloodmobile will help us reach more communities, donors and events across Alabama and Mississippi,” said Kelly Hodges, executive director of the Red Cross South Alabama Chapter. “We’re deeply grateful to the Poarch Creek Indians for their continued support of our mission.”
As a thank-you to those who donate, all presenting donors at the June 20 event will receive a complimentary Market buffet voucher from Wind Creek Atmore and a $15 gift card via email, courtesy of Amazon.
The new bus, outfitted with the latest technology and equipment, will enable the Red Cross to host mobile blood drives more efficiently, especially in rural or underserved areas.
“This is more than just a donation, it’s a commitment to the health and well-being of our neighbors,” said Stephanie Bryan, Tribal Chair and CEO of the Poarch Band of Creek Indians. “We’re proud to support the Red Cross by funding this new bloodmobile and to celebrate its unveiling here at Wind Creek Atmore.”
Blood donation appointments are strongly encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted as space allows. To schedule a blood donation appointment, visit RedCrossBlood.org and enter sponsor code: WINDCREEK.
