ECSO: Suspects jailed on trafficking charges

Two Texas residents are spending some time in the Escambia County Detention Center after being arrested and charged with drug trafficking.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Heath Jackson, the pair were arrested on June 12, 2025 when the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Interdiction Unit conducted a traffic stop on a 2023 Cadilac XTS on Interstate 65 Northbound.
As a result of the traffic stop, officers seized of approximately 22 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of $250,000.
The two occupants of the vehicle, Dominick Balli and James Godbe, both residents of Texas, were arrested and charged with Cocaine Trafficking and booked into the Escambia County Jail.
Balli, 37, and Godbe, 36, are being held at the Escambia County Detention Center on $1,000,000 bond each.
The investigation is ongoing by the Escambia County Narcotics Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA.)
“This enforcement action highlights the Sheriff’s Office’s commitment to eradicating narcotics not only in the local community, but also any drug trafficking through our country,” Jackson said in a prepared statement.
The names of the arresting officer(s) was not released by the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office.
No additional information has been provided in connection with the investigation into the case.
