If you plan to attend the Alabama Blueberry Festival at Jennings Park on Saturday, be sure to bring your appetite.
Some of the offerings found only at the festival have become traditions for many attendees.
Brewton’s Blueberry Ice Cream is only available once a year during the festival. The special frozen treat is prepared especially for the festival using locally-grown blueberries in the sweet mix. You’ll want to grab a cup — or a bucket — while it lasts. The Greater Brewton Area Chamber of Commerce, hosts for the event, will have the ice cream ready when the festival opens.
Also at the Chamber tent, those looking for something sweet made with fresh, local blueberries, will find their fill in homemade Blueberry cobbler and Blueberry crunch. These are items that are also only available for the annual festival day.
If you’re looking for a little protein in your diet, you’re covered there. With plenty of other offerings, you’re sure to find something to curb your hunger and wet your whistle.
Food concessions/vendors available will be:
Pig Daddy’s — offering their famous pulled-pork sandwiches, pulled-pork nachos with all the trimmings and their signature blueberry bread pudding with a home-made signature sauce.
E&I Enterprises will be back squeezing fresh lemons for their signature lemonade refresher. You’ll also find dipped, frozen cheesecake-on-a-stick as well as frozen bananas on-a-stick to enjoy hand held treat as you enjoy the festival. For a heartier treat, tamales with red sauce as well as red beans and rice with sausage and Mexican Street Corn.
For some traditional festival fare, visit the Taste of Summer location where you’ll find roasted ears of corn and wonderful turkey legs.
Riff-Raff food truck will be on hand offering up homemade burgers and french fries as well as chicken tenders, unique buffalo tacos and you can even pick up a dessert to complete your meal.
The Cactus Shack will be on hand with some refreshing drinks including lemonade and made on-site snow cones.
And, for the kid in everyone, you’ll be able to pick up a hot dog at Stephen’s Hotdog Wagon along the festival concession route. If a hot dog isn’t enough, you can always pick up a freshly-made sandwich at the booth.
No matter what your taste buds are craving, there will be something to tame the hunger beast throughout the festival event.
